ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze the association between hearing loss and health vulnerability in children aged 25 to 36 months. Methods Analytical observational cross-sectional study conducted through child hearing screening in nine day-care centers. The screening consisted of anamnesis, otoscopy, tympanometry, transient otoacoustic emissions, and pure tone audiometry. For each exam performed, the 'pass' and 'fail' criteria were established. The children's residential addresses were georeferenced and a choropleth map of the spatial distribution was built, considering the Health Vulnerability Index (HVI). The analysis of the association between the HVI and the variables sex, auditory assessment, and region area of the household was performed using Pearson's Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests. Results Ninety-five children of both sexes were evaluated, of which 44.7% presented alterations in at least one of the exams performed, being referred for otorhinolaryngological evaluation and subsequent auditory assessment. Of the observed changes, 36.9% occurred in the tympanometry and 7.8% in the transient otoacoustic emissions. Among children referred for reassessment, 9.7% were diagnosed with conductive hearing loss, 13.6% results within normal limits and 21.4% did not attend for assessment. Of the children who presented the final diagnosis of conductive hearing loss (9.7%), 1.9% were classified as low-risk HVI and 6.8% as medium-risk HVI. There was statistical significance between HVI and the child's place of residence. Conclusion The association between hearing loss and HIV was not statistically significant; however, it was possible to observe that 77.7% of the children with hearing loss resided in sectors with medium- risk HIV

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a associação entre perda auditiva e a vulnerabilidade à saúde em crianças na faixa etária de 25 a 36 meses. Método Estudo observacional analítico do tipo transversal realizado por meio da triagem auditiva infantil em nove creches. A triagem constou de anamnese, meatoscopia, timpanometria, emissões otoacústicas transientes e audiometria tonal limiar. Para cada exame realizado foi estabelecido o critério de “passa” e “falha”. Os endereços residenciais das crianças foram georreferenciados e foi construído mapa coroplético da distribuição espacial, considerando o Índice de Vulnerabilidade à Saúde (IVS). Foi realizada análise de associação entre o IVS com as variáveis sexo, exames audiológicos e regional de domicílio por meio dos testes Qui-quadrado de Pearson, e Exato de Fisher. Resultados Foram avaliadas 95 crianças de ambos os sexos, destas, 44,7% apresentaram alteração em pelo menos um dos exames realizados, sendo encaminhadas para avaliação otorrinolaringológica e auditiva. Das alterações observadas 36,9% ocorreram na timpanometria e 7,8% nas emissões otoacústicas transientes. Dentre crianças encaminhadas para avaliação, 9,7% apresentaram diagnóstico de perda auditiva do tipo condutiva, 13,6% resultados dentro da normalidade e 21,4% não compareceram para reavaliação. Das crianças que apresentaram o diagnóstico final de perda auditiva do tipo condutiva (9,7%), 1,9% foi classificado como IVS de risco baixo e 6,8% como IVS de risco médio. Houve significância estatística entre IVS e o local de residência da criança. Conclusão Não houve associação com significância estatística entre alteração auditiva e IVS, entretanto foi possível observar que 77,7% das crianças com diagnóstico de perda auditiva residiam em setores censitários de risco médio do IVS.

ABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting styles and hearing skills in children with hearing loss who use cochlear implants. Methods This is an observational analytical study. The participants were the children’s main caregivers divided into a study group (N=50) and a control group (N=28). The children’s ages were between 3 and 7 years old. Subjects in the study group provided a past medical history (PMH), and completed the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) and the Infant-Toddler Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale (IT-MAIS) or the Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale (MAIS). Subjects in the control group also provided a PMH and completed the PSDQ. The Mann Whitney test, the Spearman coefficient, and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used for data analysis, utilizing the JASP 0.8 and SPSS 23 softwares. Results Results showed that The authoritarian parenting style and punishment dimension revealed a statistical significance, with higher scores for children with altered auditory development. Conclusion It was concluded that the practice of authoritarian parenting style with punitive dimensions and physical coercion were related to altered hearing development. Regulation dimension presented a significant correlation with hearing development. The outcome suggested the importance of psychotherapeutic strategies for caregivers who are responsible for children with hearing loss.

RESUMO Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a relação entre estilos parentais e habilidades auditivas em crianças usuárias de implante coclear. Métodos Este é um estudo analítico observacional. Os participantes foram os cuidadores principais das crianças divididos em grupo estudo (N=50) e grupo controle (N=28). As idades das crianças estavam entre 3 e 7 anos. Os indivíduos do grupo estudo forneceram uma história médica pregressa (HMP) e preencheram o Questionário de Estilos e Dimensões Parentais (QEDP) e a Escala de Integração Auditiva Significativa Infantil-Toddler (IT-MAIS) ou a Escala de Integração Auditiva Significativa (MAIS). Os sujeitos do grupo controle também forneceram um PMH e preencheram o QEDP. O teste de Mann Whitney, o coeficiente de Spearman e o teste de Kruskal-Wallis foram utilizados para análise dos dados, utilizando-se os softwares JASP 0.8 e SPSS 23. Resultados Os grupos estudo e controle não apresentam diferenças significativas em relação aos estilos parentais (p<0,05). A dimensão estilo parental autoritário e punição revelou significância estatística, com escores mais elevados para crianças com desenvolvimento auditivo alterado. Conclusão No presente estudo foi possível verificar que a prática do estilo parental autoritário com dimensões punitivas e coerção física esteve relacionada ao desenvolvimento auditivo alterado em crianças usuárias de implante coclear.

Abstract Introduction Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) and their suppression may be considered useful in monitoring cochlear function and the efferent auditory pathway inhibitory effect. Nonetheless, the establishment of reliable parameters of response variations is of great importance. Objectives To verify the replicability of test and retest in the research of the inhibitory effect of the efferent pathway using contralateral suppressing stimulus during DPOAE recording for clinical applicability. Methods Cross-sectional study with 48 volunteers, aged 18 to 30 years, with normal audiometric thresholds. The procedures included were audiometric and immittance measures to overrule any conductive or sensorineural conditions and DPOAE recordings without and with contralateral suppression with a 60 dBHL white noise. Distortion product otoacoustic emissions amplitudes were analyzed and compared in both conditions with Wilcoxon test, and the Spearman correlation test was used to assess test-retest reliability. Results The comparative analysis showed differences between amplitudes in test and retest conditions only in 1,500 Hz for DPOAE measures with all other tested frequencies showing no differences, and no difference was observed in all recorded frequencies in the test and retest comparison for DPOAE suppression. The degree of correlation between test and retest of DPOAE amplitude was good at 6,000 Hz and strong (r > 0.880) at the other frequencies. For DPOAE with suppression, all frequencies presented strong correlation between test and retest: 1,500 Hz (r = 0.880), 2,000 Hz (r = 0.882), 3,000 Hz (r = 0.940), and 6,000 Hz (r = 0.957). Conclusions The study found good replicability in contralateral suppression of DPOAE with potential clinical applicability, and we recommend conducting the test from 2000Hz to higher frequencies for more reliable results.

RESUMO Objetivo: revisar a literatura disponível sobre a relação entre alterações auditivas e deficiência da biotinidase. Métodos: a busca foi realizada entre outubro de 2018 e agosto de 2021, nas bases de dados: ELSEVIER, MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS. Utilizaram-se descritores em português, inglês e espanhol, além das ferramentas PRISMA para seleção dos artigos e STROBE para análise dos mesmos. Revisão da Literatura: foram selecionados artigos publicados entre 1983 e 2020 que respondiam à pergunta norteadora da pesquisa. Foram incluídos estudos observacionais, estudos de série de casos e relatos de caso, e excluídos os artigos sem descrição dos métodos utilizados, realizados pelo mesmo autor e com a mesma amostra. A estratégia de busca inicial identificou 152 artigos. Após aplicados os critérios de inclusão e exclusão, 14 artigos foram incluídos na presente revisão. Conclusão: a presença de biotina foi frequentemente associada à gênese das vias auditivas. Foi observada uma relação sugerida pela literatura entre deficiência da biotinidase e alterações auditivas.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to review the available literature on the relationship between hearing disorders and Biotinidase deficiency. Methods: a literature search carried out between October 2018 and August 2021, on the following databases: ELSEVIER, MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS. Descriptors were used in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. PRISMA tools were used to select the articles and STROBE was used to analyze them. Literature Review: the selected articles were published between 1983 and 2020 and answered the guiding question of the research. Observational studies, case series studies, and case reports were included. Articles without a methodology description, or carried out by the same author and with the same sample were excluded. The initial search strategy identified 152 articles. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 14 articles were selected for this review. Conclusion: the presence of Biotin was often associated with auditory pathways origins. The literature suggested a relationship between Biotinidase deficiency and hearing disorders.

RESUMO Objetivo avaliar o efeito da variação da intensidade de estimulação sobre as respostas das emissões otoacústicas produto de distorção em indivíduos com perda auditiva neurossensorial, utilizando um protocolo de gradiente de fase das emissões. Métodos estudo observacional transversal. Participaram 38 indivíduos com diagnóstico de perda auditiva neurossensorial de grau leve, moderado ou severo. Foram realizadas anamnese, meatoscopia, audiometria tonal liminar, logoaudiometria, imitanciometria, emissões otoacústicas produto de distorção e emissões otoacústicas residuais. As emissões otoacústicas residuais foram coletadas com o equipamento Echodia, modelo Elios®. O protocolo utilizado permite a variação dos parâmetros frequência e intensidade e as respostas são analisadas por meio do teste do Gradiente de Fase. As respostas registradas nas emissões residuais foram consideradas como “presente”, “ausente” e “artefato”, considerando a variação da fase em função de f1. Resultados Foram incluídas 72 orelhas. Houve diferença estatisticamente significativa nas frequências de 1300 Hz e 2000 Hz, ao comparar os resultados das emissões residuais. Ao correlacionar o resultado da audiometria e a intensidade de estimulação que evocou a emissão residual, houve correlação positiva para as frequências de 1000 Hz e 4000Hz. O “artefato” foi registrado, principalmente, nas frequências mais agudas: 56,2% em 3000 Hz e 58,2% em 4000 Hz. A emissão otoacústica residual presente foi registrada em 18,6% em 1000 Hz, 13,4% em 2000 Hz, 6,3% em 3000 Hz e 7,5% em 4000 Hz. Conclusão o aumento da intensidade de estimulação no exame de emissões pode auxiliar no estudo das células ciliadas residuais, desde que seja utilizado um protocolo capaz de diferenciar respostas fisiológicas de artefatos.

ABSTRACT Purpose To study the effect of stimulation intensity variation on the responses of distortion products in subjects with sensorineural hearing loss using a new protocol to register the otoacoustic emissions. Methods This is a cross-sectional observational study. The following procedures were performed: anamnesis, otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, distortion product and residual otoacoustic emissions. The residual DPOAE were collected with the Echodia equipment, Elios®. The protocol that was developed allows the variation of frequency and intensity parameters and the responses are analyzed by phase gradient test. Responses recorded in residual otoacoustic emissions were considered “present”, “absent” or “artifact”. Results The total included ears was 72. On residual otoacoustic emissions test, at a frequency of 1300Hz and 2000Hz, there was statistically significant difference. By analyzing the average found in the audiometry and the results of residual emissions, only the frequency of 1300Hz showed a statistically significant association in all groups. By correlating the results of the audiometry and the stimulation intensity used to evoke the residual emission, there was positive correlation for the frequencies of 1000Hz and 4000Hz. The “artifact” was mostly recorded in the higher frequencies: 56.2% in 3000Hz and 58.2% in 4000 Hz. Residual EOAPD present was recorded as 18.6% at 1000Hz, 13.4% at 2000Hz, 6.3% at 3000Hz and 7.5% at 4000Hz. Conclusion The increased stimulation intensity in the otoacoustic emissions test can aid in the study of residual outer hair cells, as long as a protocol is used to check the correctness of the responses.

RESUMO Objetivo: revisar a literatura disponível sobre os achados eletrofisiológicos do PEATE por estímulo chirp em recém-nascidos. Métodos: a busca dos artigos foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, LILACS e Scielo. Foram selecionados artigos publicados em Inglês e Português, entre 2010 e 2020. Foram incluídos artigos que contemplavam o uso do PEATE por estímulo chirp banda larga por via aérea em recém-nascidos; que avaliavam o PEATE por frequência específica e que comparavam os resultados do PEATE por estímulo chirp e clique. Aqueles que avaliavam somente resultados por via óssea, artigos repetidos nas bases de dados, artigos de revisão de literatura, relato de casos, cartas e editoriais foram excluídos. Revisão da Literatura: a estratégia de busca resultou na seleção de nove artigos. Quatro estudos (44,4%) analisaram amplitude e latência das ondas do PEATE por estímulo chirp, três (33,3%) compararam o tempo de realização do PEATE por clique e chirp, dois estudos (22,2%) analisaram somente o parâmetro amplitude e dois (22,2%) verificaram a especificidade do PEATE por chirp na triagem auditiva neonatal. Conclusão: o estímulo chirp possibilita respostas com maiores amplitudes, maiores latências e menor tempo de realização do exame quando comparado ao estímulo clique em recém-nascidos.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to review the literature available on electrophysiological findings on ABR with chirp stimuli in newborns. Methods: articles were searched in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, LILACS, and SciELO. Papers published in English and Portuguese between 2010 and 2020 were selected, including those that addressed ABR with air-conduction broadband chirp stimuli in newborns, that assessed ABR with a specific frequency, and that compared ABR results with chirp and click stimuli. Articles that assessed only bone-conduction results, duplicates, literature reviews, case reports, letters, and editorials were excluded. Literature review: the search strategy resulted in nine selected articles. Four studies (44.4%) analyzed ABR wave amplitude and latency with chirp stimuli, three studies (33.3%) compared the time of ABR procedures between chirp and click stimuli, two studies (22.2%) analyzed only amplitude, and two (22.2%), verified the specificity of ABR with chirp stimuli in neonatal hearing screening. Conclusion: chirp stimuli elicit responses with greater amplitudes, lower latencies, and shorter examination time than those with click stimuli in newborns.

RESUMO Objetivo: descrever os resultados da triagem auditiva e de linguagem, bem como a associação entre ambos, em pré-escolares. Métodos: estudo realizado com 75 crianças matriculadas na pré-escola. A triagem de linguagem foi realizada por meio da aplicação do Roteiro de Observação do Comportamento de Crianças de 0 a 6 anos. A triagem auditiva das crianças com idade até 1 ano e 11 meses consistiu de meatoscopia, imitanciometria, avaliação auditiva comportamental e emissões otoacústicas. As crianças com idade igual ou superior a 2 anos realizaram meatoscopia, imitanciometria e audiometria tonal lúdica. As crianças que falharam na triagem foram encaminhadas para diagnóstico. A comparação entre resultado da avaliação audiológica e linguagem foi realizada por meio do teste McNemar. Resultados: das 75 crianças triadas, 18 (24%) falharam nos testes auditivos e 11 (15%) falharam no teste de linguagem. Das crianças encaminhadas para diagnóstico, 12 (66%) receberam confirmação de alteração auditiva e 10 (90%) receberam confirmação de alteração de linguagem. Não houve associação entre alteração de audição e linguagem (p=0,230). Conclusão: foram encontradas alterações de audição e linguagem em pré-escolares que, apesar de não associadas, podem impactar no desempenho acadêmico. Este resultado enfatiza a necessidade do desenvolvimento de estratégias para a implementação da triagem do pré-escolar abrangendo a audição e linguagem.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to describe the results of preschooler hearing and language screening and the association between them. Methods: a study with 75 children enrolled in preschool. The language was screened with the Behavior Observation Guide for 0-to-6-Year-Old Children. The hearing of children up to 1 year and 11 months old was screened with meatoscopy, acoustic immittance, behavioral hearing assessment, and otoacoustic emissions, while those in the age range 2 years or older were screened with meatoscopy, acoustic immittance, and play pure-tone audiometry. The children who failed the screening were referred for diagnosis. The results of the hearing and language assessments were compared with the McNemar test. Results: of the 75 children screened, 18 (24%) failed the hearing tests and 11 (15%) failed the language test. Hearing impairment was confirmed in 12 (66%) of those referred for diagnosis, and language impairment, in 10 (90%) of them. There was no association between hearing and language impairments (p = 0.230). Conclusion: hearing and language impairments were found in preschoolers. Although they were not associated, they can impact academic performance. This result emphasizes the need for developing strategies to implement preschooler screening programs that include hearing and language.

RESUMO Objetivo: conhecer a perspectiva do surdo quanto às melhorias necessárias no atendimento à saúde para essa população. Métodos: estudo observacional transversal realizado com 124 surdos que responderam a questionário semiestruturado, visando caracterizar amostra (idade, sexo e tipo de comunicação) e coletar resposta à questão aberta: “Você tem alguma sugestão para melhorar o atendimento de saúde ao surdo?, respondida nas modalidades escrita ou Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras). Realizou-se análise descritiva para caracterização da amostra e análise quanti-qualitativa de conteúdo (temático-categorial), para identificação de categorias e frequência de ocorrência dos conteúdos das respostas à questão aberta. Resultados: amostra apresentou média de idade de 44 anos (desvio padrão: 15, mínima de 18 e máxima de 70 anos), sendo 65% mulheres e 78% usuários de Libras. A maioria dos participantes (83%) respondeu à questão aberta na modalidade escrita. Foram identificadas seis categorias temáticas: 1) Necessidade de melhorias; 2) Barreiras de comunicação); 3) Promoção da saúde; 4) Autonomia; 5) Conquistas; e 6) Legislação. Conclusão: os resultados evidenciaram necessidade de melhorias no atendimento à saúde do usuário surdo. A perspectiva da população surda estudada é pautada no desejo de autonomia, de superação das barreiras de comunicação e de acesso à informação visando promoção da saúde.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to learn the deaf people’s perspective on the improvements needed in this population’s health care. Methods: an observational, cross-sectional study conducted with 124 deaf people who answered a semi-structured questionnaire to characterize the sample (age, sex, and means of communication) and collect answers to the open question: “Do you have any suggestion to improve the health care for the deaf?” - which was answered either in writing or in the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). A descriptive analysis was conducted to characterize the sample, as well as a quantitative and qualitative content analysis (thematic-categorical), to identify categories and occurrence frequency of the content in the answers to the open question. Results: the sample’s mean age was 44 years (standard deviation 15, minimum 18, and maximum 70 years), 65% were women, and 78% used Libras to communicate. Most of the participants (83%) answered the open question in writing. Six theme categories were identified: 1) Needed improvements; 2) Communication barriers); 3) Health promotion; 4) Autonomy; 5) Achievements; and 6) Law. Conclusion: the results reveal a need for improvements in the health care of deaf people. The perspective of the studied deaf population is based on their desire to gain autonomy, overcome communication barriers, and have access to information, aiming at health promotion.

RESUMO Objetivo: investigar a satisfação de surdos em relação aos Serviços de Saúde, caracterizar a amostra quanto aos aspectos sóciodemográficos, sócioeconômicos e auto declaração da surdez e verificar se há associação entre satisfação com o atendimento, comunicação, profissional, e autodeclaração da surdez. Métodos: estudo observacional transversal realizado com questionário semiestruturado, em 74 adultos surdos. Foi realizada análise descritiva da caracterização da amostra e do atendimento e análise de associação entre satisfação, profissional, autodeclaração, serviço utilizado e escolaridade, por meio do Qui-quadrado. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Resultados: a amostra foi composta, prioritariamente, por mulheres (66,2%) entre 18 e 28 anos (46,5%), de classe D (51,3%), com ensino médio (56,76%), auxiliares de escritório ou “digitadoras” (90%). 63,5%, se autodeclara “surdo”, 51,3% é bilíngue e 54,4% não está satisfeito com o atendimento médico. Houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre a satisfação e o atendimento dos diversos profissionais (p< 0,05). Conclusão: a maioria da população não se mostrou satisfeita com o atendimento médico, embora este tenha sido o mais procurado. A modalidade de comunicação utilizada pelos profissionais e a presença de intérprete não foram efetivas. É necessária a implementação de estratégias para garantir a acessibilidade e integralidade à saúde dessa população.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to investigate the satisfaction of deaf people in relation to the health services, to characterize the sample regarding sociodemographic, socioeconomic, and self-perception of deafness, and to verify if there is an association between satisfaction with care, communication, professionals, and self-perception of deafness. Methods: an observational, cross-sectional study conducted with a semi-structured questionnaire in 74 deaf adults. A descriptive analysis of the characterization of the sample and attendance, and an analysis of the association between satisfaction, professionals, self-perception, service used, and schooling level was performed, using the chi-square test. The level of significance adopted was 5%. Results: the sample was composed mainly of women (66.2%), 18 to 28 years old (46.5%), of socioeconomic class D (51.3%), having finished high school (56.76%), and employed as an office assistant or typist (90%), 63.5% self-declared as deaf, 51.3% were bilingual, and 54.4% were not satisfied with the medical care. There was a statistically significant difference between the level of satisfaction of the volunteers with the health care received in relation to the different health professionals who attended them (p< 0.05). Conclusion: most of the population was not satisfied with medical care, although this service was most sought. The type of communication used by the professionals and the presence of an interpreter were not effective. It is necessary to implement strategies to ensure accessibility and comprehensive careto this population.

Resumo Introdução: A toxoplasmose congênita é uma doença infecciosa com grande prevalência nos países tropicais. Caracteriza-se por sequelas neurológicas, oftalmológicas e auditivas. Objetivo: O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar e descrever o potencial evocado auditivo de tronco encefálico em bebês de 1 a 3 meses diagnosticados com toxoplasmose congênita e comparar com bebês de mesma faixa etária sem a infecção. Metódo: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, analítico e transversal, no qual foi realizada a pesquisa do potencial evocado auditivo de tronco cerebral em lactentes com toxoplasmose congênita. Foram realizados os exames audiológicos: emissões otoacústicas evocadas por estímulo transiente, potencial auditivo de tronco encefálico clínico e automático. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 100 crianças, porém a amostra final foi constituída por 76. Das 37 crianças com toxoplasmose incluídas no estudo, 28 completaram a avaliação neurológica de imagem e, dessas, três (10,7%) apresentaram exame neurológico alterado. Na avaliação do potencial evocado auditivo de tronco encefálico, duas crianças sem toxoplasmose e 10 com toxoplasmose congênita apresentaram resultado sugestivo de alteração no processo maturacional da via auditiva de tronco encefálico. Conclusão: Foram identificadas 10 (27%) crianças com possível alteração unilateral na avaliação eletrofisiológica e um risco cinco vezes maior de uma criança entre um e três meses com toxoplasmose apresentar alteração no potencial evocado auditivo de tronco encefálico quando comparada com uma criança da mesma faixa de idade sem a infecção.

Abstract Introduction: Congenital toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease with high prevalence in tropical countries. It is characterized by neurological, ophthalmological and auditory sequelae. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate and describe the brainstem auditory evoked potential in infants aged 1-3 months diagnosed with congenital toxoplasmosis and to compare them with infants of the same age group without the infection. Methods: This is an observational, analytical and cross-sectional study in which brainstem auditory evoked potential was investigated in infants with congenital toxoplasmosis. The following audiological exams were performed: transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions, clinical and automatic brainstem auditory evoked potential. Results: 100 children participated in the study, but the final sample consisted of 76 children. Of the 37 children with toxoplasmosis included in the study, 28 completed the neurological imaging evaluation, and of these, 3 (10.7%) showed an altered neurological examination. At the brainstem auditory evoked potential assessment, two children without toxoplasmosis and 10 children with congenital toxoplasmosis had results suggestive of alterations in the brainstem auditory pathway maturation. Conclusion: 10 (27%) children were identified with a possible unilateral alteration in the electrophysiological assessment. There was a 5-fold higher risk for a child between 1 and 3 months of age with toxoplasmosis to have an altered brainstem auditory evoked potential compared to a child of the same age range without the infection.

RESUMO Objetivo: correlacionar aspectos envolvidos na satisfação de fonoaudiólogos com o trabalho na Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva, tendo como referência política de recursos humanos, assistência prestada e relações comunicativas. Métodos: estudo observacional analítico transversal, composto por 27 fonoaudiólogos da Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva. Como instrumento de coleta foi utilizado questionário estruturado, aplicado sob a forma de entrevista. Foi realizada análise descritiva da distribuição de frequência de todas as variáveis categóricas e análise das medidas de tendência central e de dispersão das variáveis contínuas. Para a análise de correlação utilizou-se o coeficiente de correlação de Spearman. Resultados: as análises revelaram correlação positiva com significância estatística de magnitude moderada entre os seguintes itens: “política de recursos humanos” com “política salarial”, “perspectiva de atuação” e “comunicação”; “atividades desenvolvidas” com “espaço físico”, “política salarial”, “perspectiva de atuação” e “rotina de trabalho”; “agenda” com “espaço físico” e “rotina de trabalho”. Conclusão: o presente estudo permitiu verificar a influência da política de recursos humanos, da assistência prestada e das relações comunicativas na satisfação com o emprego de fonoaudiólogos de uma Rede de Saúde Auditiva. Além disso, apresentou avanços ao analisar uma Rede pouco abordada.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to correlate aspects involved in the satisfaction of speech therapists with the work in the Hearing Health Care Network regarding human resources policy, provided assistance and communication relationships. Methods: an analytical observational cross-sectional study, consisting of 27 speech therapists connected to the Hearing Health Care Network. A structured questionnaire was used as the collection instrument. A descriptive analysis of the frequency distribution of all categorical variables and analysis of the measures of central tendency and of dispersion of the continuous variables were made. The Spearman correlation coefficient was used for the correlation analysis. Results: the analysis revealed a positive correlation with statistical significance of moderate magnitude between the following items: “human resources policy" and "wage policy," "performance perspective" and "communication"; "activities performed" and "physical space", "wage policy", "performance perspective" and "work routine"; "agenda" and "physical space" and "work routine". Conclusion: the study showed the influence of the human resources policy, the assistance provided and the communicative relations in the satisfaction with the job of Speech Therapists of a Hearing Health Care Network. In addition, it presented advances in analyzing a poorly addressed network.

RESUMO Bebês muito jovens demonstram habilidades linguísticas bastante refinadas, sendo capazes de perceber várias características na fala do adulto. A percepção da língua materna é, pois, imprescindível para a aquisição da linguagem. Esta revisão de literatura trata das habilidades de percepção de fala dos bebês a partir do nascimento até um ano de idade. Para tanto, foi realizada a busca bibliográfica em 7 bases de dados, nos idiomas inglês, francês, português e espanhol, no período de 2007 a 2014. Com esse levantamento bibliográfico foi possível reconhecer como a aquisição da linguagem ocorre de forma rápida e que bebês bem jovens são capazes de utilizar estratégias elaboradas para iniciar tal aquisição.

ABSTRACT Very young babies show very refined language skills being able to perceive many features in adult speech. The perception of the mother tongue is therefore essential to language acquisition. This literature review deals with speech perception skills of children less than one year of age. Therefore, a literature search was performed in 7 databases, in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish, in the period of 2003-2014. From this bibliographic research it was possible to recognize how language acquisition occurs quickly, and that very young infants are able to use elaborate strategies to initiate such acquisition.

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a correlação entre satisfação de profissionais da Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva de duas microrregiões de Minas Gerais com perfil sociodemográfico, processo de trabalho e atuação no serviço de saúde. Método Estudo observacional analítico do tipo transversal, com amostra não probabilística composta por 34 profissionais vinculados aos Serviços de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva de duas microrregiões de Minas Gerais. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevistas individuais no município de atuação do profissional. Foram realizadas associações entre a variável resposta Satisfação do Profissional com as variáveis explicativas Dados sociodemográficos, Rotina de trabalho e Ações desenvolvidas. Resultados Profissionais com pós-graduação estavam mais satisfeitos com política de Recursos Humanos e atividades desenvolvidas e os concursados com política salarial e agenda. Já a análise de correlação entre processo de trabalho e satisfação revelou correlação positiva de magnitude moderada entre os itens Ações de promoção de saúde e Satisfação com equipamentos de diagnóstico e Satisfação com manutenção de equipamentos. Conclusão O presente estudo evidenciou maior nível de satisfação entre os profissionais com pós-graduação (política de recursos humanos e atividades desenvolvidas) e concursados (política salarial e agenda). Destaca-se a importância do estudo, devido ao papel fundamental que o profissional de saúde desempenha dentro da Rede. Além disso, o estudo do grau de satisfação pode proporcionar busca por melhorias, uma vez que o profissional satisfeito não só melhora a qualidade do serviço, como também apresenta maior criatividade, comprometimento e rendimento.

ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze the correlation between the satisfaction of professionals from the Hearing Health Care network in two micro-regions of Minas Gerais state and the sociodemographic profile, work process, and work performance in the health service. Methods This is a cross-sectional, observational, analytic study with a non-probabilistic sample including 34 professionals from the Hearing Health Care services. Data collection occurred through individual interviews in the municipality of professional practice. Associations between the Professional Satisfaction variable and the explanatory variables Sociodemographic Data, Work Routine, and Developed Actions were conducted. Results Professionals with graduate studies were more satisfied with the human resources policy and the activities developed, whereas health civil servants showed more satisfaction with the wage policy and the work schedule. The correlation analysis between work process and satisfaction revealed a moderate positive correlation between items such as Health Promotion Actions, Satisfaction with Diagnostic Equipment, and Satisfaction with Maintenance Equipment. Conclusion The present study revealed a higher level of satisfaction among professionals with graduate studies (human resources policy and activities developed) and civil servants (wage policy and work schedule). The relevance of this study lies on the important role that health professionals play on the Health Care Network. Additionally, the study of satisfaction level can provide a search for improvements, considering that satisfied professionals not only improve service quality, but also show greater creativity, commitment, and performance.

Objetivo Verificar o perfil e a satisfação com a estrutura do serviço, política de recursos humanos e rotina de trabalho de profissionais que integram equipes de uma Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo realizado com 34 profissionais pertencentes à Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva de duas microrregiões de Minas Gerais. A pesquisa se deu por meio da aplicação de um questionário estruturado, composto por seis eixos (caracterização do profissional, dados do atendimento/perfil do serviço, conhecimento do profissional quanto ao perfil da população atendida, caracterização do trabalho em equipe, satisfação do profissional e comunicação e trabalho. Foi realizada análise descritiva da distribuição de frequência de todas as variáveis categóricas e análise das medidas de tendência central e de dispersão das variáveis contínuas. Resultados A maioria dos profissionais pertencia à categoria fonoaudiólogo, eram contratados e recebiam entre R$ 1.091,00 e R$ 2.180,00. Metade deles relatou haver discussão dos casos clínicos e planejamento de ações, pelas equipes. A maioria referiu não haver demanda administrativa e discussão dos resultados alcançados. Todas as equipes possuíam fonoaudiólogos que se manifestaram satisfeitos com a maior parte dos aspectos do serviço no qual estavam inseridos. Como itens de insatisfação foram citados: “política de recursos humanos”, “equipamentos para diagnóstico” e “política salarial”. Conclusão O instrumento utilizado permitiu realizar o delineamento do perfil dos profissionais pertencentes à Rede de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva e verificar que estes estão satisfeitos com a maioria dos aspectos analisados.

Purpose Verify the profile and satisfaction regarding the service structure, human resources policy and professional routine work of the hearing health’s professionals of the Hearing Health Care Network. Methods Study conducted with 34 professionals related to the Hearing Health Care Network in two micro regions of Minas Gerais. The research was done through the application of a structured questionnaire consisting in six axes (Professional characterization, Data of the service, Professional knowledge about the profile of the served population, characterization of the Teamwork, Professional satisfaction and Communication and work). It was performed the descriptive analysis of the frequency distribution of all categorical variables and analysis of measures of central tendency and dispersion for continuous variables. Results The majority belongs to the speech language pathologists category, are employed and wages are between R$ 1,091.00 and R$ 2,180.00. Half of employees reported having discussion of clinical cases by teams and action planning. Most reported no occurrence of administrative demand and discussion about the achieved results. All teams had speech language pathologists and were, in most aspects, satisfied with the service in which it was inserted. The items about Dissatisfaction cited were the following ones: “Human Resources Policy”, “Diagnosis equipment” and “wage policy.” Conclusion This utilized instrument helped to achieve a professional profile delimitation among all the Health Hearing Care Network professionals, as well as verifying its satisfaction with most of the analyzed aspects.

INTRODUÇÃO: Para atender às demandas da população com deficiência auditiva, o SUS criou as Redes Estaduais de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva, compostas por ações na atenção básica, média e alta complexidade. Uma forma de se compreender a organização desses serviços nos territórios de saúde é utilizando-se análise espacial, realizada por meio do geoprocessamento. OBJETIVO: Analisar a organização da Rede Estadual de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva em Minas Gerais. MÉTODO: Estudo analítico transversal, utilizando-se técnicas de geoprocessamento. Foram analisadas a frequência absoluta e frequência por mil habitantes das variáveis: avaliação e diagnóstico, seleção e adaptação de AASI, acompanhamento e terapia fonoaudiológica. A unidade de análise espacial foi a microrregião de saúde. RESULTADOS: Os procedimentos avaliação e diagnóstico, seleção e adaptação de AASI e acompanhamento tiveram maior número absoluto nas microrregiões onde há Serviços de Saúde Auditiva credenciados. O procedimento de acompanhamento apresentou a menor ocorrência no Estado. O procedimento terapia fonoaudiológica apresentou maior ocorrência, tanto em valor absoluto quanto por população. CONCLUSÃO: A utilização do geoprocessamento permitiu identificar o fluxo do atendimento em função da frequência de realização dos procedimentos, concentração populacional e distribuição territorial. Todos os procedimentos analisados são realizados em usuários em todas as microrregiões do Estado.

INTRODUCTION: In order to meet the demands of the patient population with hearing impairment, the Hearing Health Care Network was created, consisting of primary care actions of medium and high complexity. Spatial analysis through geoprocessing is a way to understand the organization of such services. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the organization of the Hearing Health Care Network of the State of Minas Gerais. METHODS: Cross-sectional analytical study using geoprocessing techniques. The absolute frequency and the frequency per 1000 inhabitants of the following variables were analyzed: assessment and diagnosis, selection and adaptation of hearing aids, follow-up, and speech therapy. The spatial analysis unit was the health micro-region. RESULTS: The assessment and diagnosis, selection, and adaptation of hearing aids and follow-up had a higher absolute number in the micro-regions with hearing health services. The follow-up procedure showed the lowest occurrence. Speech therapy showed higher occurrence in the state, both in absolute numbers, as well as per population. CONCLUSION: The use of geoprocessing techniques allowed the identification of the care flow as a function of the procedure performance frequency, population concentration, and territory distribution. All procedures offered by the Hearing Health Care Network are performed for users of all micro-regions of the state.
